KERRIE SNOW

PREPARATION
In 1994 I took my first missionary trip to Romania. It seemed after that, God filled my heart with the desire and passion to serve people of many cultures and nations. It was five years before my next trip, again to Eastern Europe. As I look back over the past 14 years and 30 mission trips, I see the wild and amazing ride on which God has taken me. Who says Christianity is boring?

As a registered nurse, I have had the awesome privilege to be part of God’s work all over the world. I have personally put new socks and shoes on orphans and disabled, institutionalized adults in Moldova and taken part in medical clinics in the barrios of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  I’ve been a team member with Living Water International serving as a hygiene leader alongside drilling teams in Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador, teaching those in the communities and schools. I also had the opportunity to train four men in Rwanda so that they could minister to their own people, teaching them to lead healthier lives after they are provided with clean water wells. In recent years, I have also traveled with Children’s Emergency Relief International (CERI) three times to provide medical care at an orphanage in Nigeria.

My first African adventure was in 2003 when I went with Aid Sudan to the Kakuma Refugee Camp in northern Kenya. In 2004 I led a team to a tiny village in southern Sudan. Those two trips impacted my heart and life in so many ways. I realize now that those trips, among other things, were preparing me for what God has now called me to do. (Ephesians 4:11-13) Following my most recent trip to Sudan in June, I asked God “What is my next step?” He was quick to answer!

PURPOSE
God has confirmed to me that His purpose for me at this time is to glorify Him through ministry to the people of southern Sudan. (Phil 2:13)

PLAN
It seems His plan for me is to be part of the Philip Project. This four-fold project highlights education, health, clean water and the spread of the Good News through Chronological Bible Storying. It involves training Ugandan missionaries who will rotate in and out of Sudan to minister and teach Sudanese. I will also help set up community clinics in Sudan and facilitate medical mission teams.

One of my two grown children upon hearing of my call said “This is huge, Mom.” It is not an easy thing to pack up and move when continents and oceans separate loved ones, but I am daily reminded that life is not about me, my comfort or happiness, but about glorifying the ONE who came to save me.
