Tong, Sudan

June 7th – June 22nd

Description: Tong is a village located in the Upper Nile Region along the Nile River. Some of the first missionaries to southern Sudan came to this area around 100 years ago. Focusing on a medical project, the team of 10 included a doctor, a pharmacist, a nurse and two teachers along with Aid Sudan personnel.

The team co-led by David Humphrey and Kerry Henderson conducted a medical clinic in Padak with our pharmacist dispensing medicine as necessary. All remaining medicine was distributed amongst medical clinics in the area. While people were waiting for medical treatment, the team shared the Word of God through Chronological Bible Storying. During their stay in Sudan, team members stayed in mud huts, bathed out of a basin, ate food cooked over a fire, and lived a very basic lifestyle in every way.

The team returned to the States, but Moses Project missionaries Agook and Jengmer will stay in Sudan until August. Agook will remain in the Bor area while Jengmer will continue on to Nasir. During their three months in Sudan, they will conduct pastor training, work on community development projects and continue to report to Aid Sudan on needs in the area.
